9/11 Story

On Tuesday, September 11, 2001 at 8:46am the United States was forever changed as a country. In the next hour and a half, four terrorist attacks took place in the Northeast Peninsula of the United States, but affected Americans all across the country still to this day.

The first hijacking was on World Trade Centers North Tower; the 110- story building was crashed into and later collapsed. The American Airlines Flight 11 included five suicide hijackers and 87 innocent passengers. Minutes later at 9:03am the twin tower, South Tower was crashed into by the United Airlines Flight 175 aboard that flight was 5 hijackers and 60 innocent victims. Between the World Trades Center 2,606 people died from these attacks alone.

As the day unfolded and authority and citizens became aware and alert of the attacks, American Airlines Flight 77 flew into The US Pentagon at 9:37 am. This attack killed 184 people, 59 passengers on the flight and 125 victims in the Pentagon.

A forth attack was underway, at 10:03 am the country learned of the heroes on United Airlines Flight 93. They fought to gain control of the plane from the hijackers when they learned of other attacks. They crashed into a field southeast of Pennsylvania, instantly killing 40 heroes. The flight was believed to be heading to the Whitehouse.

All of this web links are personal accounts of the effects of 9/11. Most articles are in the point of view of adults, but in one of the articles, it is in the point of view of a child. All of these resources are reliable. They range from New York Magazine to The Weather Channel. Each article has a different point of view, but they are all valid interpretations of the events of 9/11. Some of these pages are even in blog form with dates and times, which I like a lot.

This article gives good detail and tells a story, which I think rather than reading facts, makes these events more relatable.

An 9/11 Obituary

Mary Smith, age 42, was survived by her husband, Steve, and three children, ages 16, 14 and 8. She passed on Sept. 11, 2001 in the World Trade Center with nearly 3,000 other victims. But rather than dwell on the sad, her family and friends wanted to take this opportunity to share their fondest of Mary. A hard worker, Mary was devoted to her family and her job. Her bubbly personality made it easy for anyone to befriend her. Born in New York, Mary had always been a city girl and wanted nothing else but to continue to work and live there in her adult life. Together, she and her husband raised a wonderful family. The hardest thing about losing Mary everyone says—she touched so many lives and now has been taken away. Memorial plans are to be announced at a later time.

Progressive Feedback

The most important aspect of out blog is the home page because it has all of our post on it. We arranged the blog this way because a reader can easily navigate through the blog. We have a table of context and a tab for everyone in our group and our contributions to the blog. We decided that everyone the contributed to the blog should have their own tab because it made it more organized and easy to follow a particular author on the blog. Our inspiration for this blog topic was that 9/11 anniversary was a current event, so we thought that it would easily have an emotional affect on our audience. Our favorite part of putting together the 9/11 blog was at the end when we could look at the blog and see all our hard work put together and finished.

Karleton Fyfe

Former Brookline, Mass. Resident Karleton Fyfe, 31, died September 11, 2001 during the tragic plane hijacking of 9/11.

Karleton Fyfe was a young business man that had just graduated a decade earlier from University of North Carolina. He love everything about life, laughing and loving and his family and friends.

He survived by his wife, Haven and his son Jackson, 18 months old, he had also just learned of a 2nd son two days before the tragic accident.


Karleton Fyfe will always be remember as a lover of life, hard worker and great husband and father.


Maria Rose Abad

Former Marie Rose, 49, New York resident passed away September 11, 2001 when Tower two of the World Trade Center was hit.

Maria Rose Abad was the Senior Vice President of Keefe, Bruyette & Woods. She loved her job and was highly respected at work. She was passionate about reading, and was considered an avid reader.

She survived by her husband of 20 years.

Maria Rose Abad will always be remembered as a dedicated worker, amazing wife, and advid reader.

The plane that crashed into the field in Shanksville had reportedly been re-captured by the people on the plane. They saved the plane from crashing into the White House. The United States went to war with the Middle East terrorist groups shortly after.

Some of the numbers given in this article help to paint a vivid picture in ones mind of what he day might have looked like and felt like.
